"At So Good Baits, hand pouring is about creating baits with a purpose. Unlike injected baits, our process allows us to focus on natural, tournament-tested colors that closely mimic real forage. We steer clear of flashy, unrealistic combinations, ensuring every bait delivers the subtle, lifelike presentation fish can't resist."

Open Pour Baits: Crafted by pouring liquid plastic by hand into open molds, allowing for greater control over the bait's texture, action, and natural color finishes. This method often results in softer, more lifelike baits ideal for finesse and subtle presentations.

Injected Baits: Injection molding forces liquid plastic into closed molds under high pressure, creating firm, dense baits with uniform shapes and detailed surface features. While this process enhances durability and allows for complex designs, it often sacrifices the soft, lifelike flexibility critical for finesse fishing. The resulting baits can lack the subtle, natural movement and texture that entice fish to hold on longer. Additionally, injection molding tends to favor bold, layered color patterns that may appear less realistic compared to the subdued, natural forage-mimicking colors achieved through hand pouring. For anglers prioritizing finesse, where lifelike action and natural appeal make all the difference, hand-poured baits provide a clear edge.

We began hand-pouring baits over 20 years ago out of a desire to create a high-quality product at a fair price. Here’s what drove us:

  1. Baits "go bad" fast! We can’t count how many times we’ve opened a brand-new bag of baits only to find creases in many of them, making half the bag unusable. Frustrating and costly, to say the least.

  2. Cost. Tired of paying premium prices for defective, half-usable baits? So were we.

  3. Quality matters! Many companies use one formula for all their baits, regardless of the type, resulting in stiff or defective products. We knew it could be better.

That’s when we decided to do something about it.

From the start, we realized that different baits require different formulas to perform their best. All of our baits are crafted using the highest-grade soft plastic available. Why? Because pliability is essential. It gives our baits incredible action and significantly boosts your hook-up ratio.

We didn’t stop at just selecting the right base plastic. We painstakingly developed a unique formula for each bait profile. This included balancing salt, scent, hardener, and/or softener to ensure optimal performance for each design. For example, our stick baits don’t share the same formula as our grubs or jerk baits.

The result? Custom-crafted baits that have unparalleled action and store exceptionally well. Proper storage is key: avoid folding them in half or cramming them into tight dividers. Stored properly, our baits will hold their shape for a long time, ensuring they’re ready for action whenever you hit the water.

  • No Liquid Weight: Unlike many bait-makers, we use real salt for weight. Bass love salt, and so do we.

  • True Hand Pours: Every bait is genuinely hand-poured, one at a time. Injection molds? Not our thing.

  • Salt and Scent: We use varying granule sizes and amounts of real salt based on each bait’s design. Our one-of-a-kind scent formula, lovingly nicknamed “House Sauce,” is cooked right into the baits for long-lasting effectiveness.

  • No Re-melting: We never re-melt or reuse cured plastic. Every bait starts fresh.

Is all of this overkill? We don’t think so.

Here’s what you can look forward to when using our baits:

  • Drop Shot and Ned Rig Fans: Our leech and chub profiles are game-changers. Their action on a drop-shot rig is so lifelike you might not believe it yourself.

  • Stick Baits: Poured in lateral molds, these fully round baits excel when fished wacky-style (no O-ring needed).

  • Jerk Baits: Featuring a large hook pocket, they’re perfect for screw-in hook setups and deliver unmatched results.

  • Double-Tail Grubs: Designed for maximum action without sacrificing a good hook set.

We pour most of our baits to order, ensuring the freshest, highest-quality product. For more details on our baits and their performance, check out the Photos & Videos page on our website.

Why do some of our baits have a flat side? Let’s break it down:

  • Advantages: The flat side provides extra resistance in the water, adds a backbone to soft-bodied baits, and makes skipping jigs a breeze. It also introduces a gliding action that’s hard to replicate with other baits.

  • Disadvantages: Some may think it’s less visually appealing compared to injection-molded baits, but we disagree.

Because our baits are designed for action, they’re softer than most competitors’ baits. They won’t last forever—but that’s a trade-off we’re happy to make for unmatched performance. Landing fish is the ultimate goal, and we’ve built our baits with that in mind.

We’re for anyone who’s looking for an edge on the water—from serious tournament anglers to weekend warriors who just want to catch fish and have fun.

If you value quality, performance, and the kind of craftsmanship that only comes from passionate hands, then you’re in the right place.

We’re confident you’ll experience the “So Good” difference the moment you tie one of our baits on your line.
