A hand-poured soft jerkbait that combines a full baitfish body with a thin worm-like tail. The 6-inch Wormtail Shad gives weightless and bottom-rigged presentations a longer silhouette than the Delta Tail Shad, with a narrower tail shape.

Where this profile fits
The Wormtail Shad combines a larger baitfish body with a narrow trailing tail. Choose it when you want a longer soft-jerkbait outline but prefer a slender tail to the Delta Tail Shad's broader triangle. Its 6-inch length also provides a different body-and-hook fit from the small Forked Tail Minnow.
A weightless setup and a weighted bottom rig ask different things of the same body. Choose a hook with enough clearance for the bait, then check the trailing length. If the narrow tail is not the feature you want to emphasize, compare the Delta before simply changing color.
Rig options for 6" Wormtail Shad
Texas rig
Adds a separate weight for a bottom-oriented baitfish presentation.
Carolina rig
Keeps the baitfish body behind a separate sinker and leader.
Can it be used as a trailer?
Possible on a larger swim or bladed jig when the full body fits the hook and keeper. Check how far the tail extends past the hook; the shorter Delta Tail Shad is another baitfish option.
